History
Gianpaolo Alexander was born in Detroit, Michigan. With his family, he moved to Rochester, NY. Gianpaolo began to draw and paint with his father as a child.
He spent the summers with his mother in Italy. After school, Gianpaolo moved to Italy, NY, Philadelphia and now Berlin to pursue his work in painting.
Gianpaolo Alexander moved to Berlin recently.
Gianpaolo studied art in New York and Florence, Italy. His mentors include Alan Pascuzzi and Elmerindo Fiore. Gianpaolo moved to Philadelphia to work in the studio of Chuck Connelly. In 2010, Gianpaolo returned to the town of Roselli (FR), Italy to concentrate on his work. In November of 2011, he came to Berlin and has been painting in his studio in Neukölln.
Gianpaolo's attraction to Germany stems from an interest in German Expressionism. When discussing other painters Gianpaolo seems to bend his head when masters are mentioned and continually mentions how much he has to learn. He has a respect for any kind of story-teller that serves the imagination, and when speaking of influences, Gianpaolo is more likely to point to blues musicians, comics, writers and the story-tellers that are within every one of us.
